영어 글쓰기에 대한 5가지 팁

영어 글쓰기를 할 때 어떻게 글을 써야할지 막막할 때가 있죠.  이번에 engVid 엠마 선생님의 영어 글쓰기 팁에 대한 유튜브 강의를 들었는데요. 이번 강의는 비단 영어 글쓰기에 국한되지 않고 일반적인 글쓰기에도 도움이 되는 것 같습니다. 그러면 어떤 영어 글쓰기 팁이 있는지 알아보도록 하죠.

1. Genre / Type of Writing / Audience

First of all, think about genre, type of writing, audience.

ex. Email, Tweet, Facebook post, Essay, Business, Executive, Summary

참고) Genre 발음 : 장르X 잔롸O [^|Ʒɑ:nrə]

2. Length Expectations

Long is not always good.

paragraph - 5 sentences

cover letter - 1 page

3. make a plan

brain storming

make main ideas

4. Formal vs Informal

Formal : essay, cover letter, report, email to customer..

Informal : post card, text message, email to friend..

many (격식) vs lots (비격식)

regards (격식) vs cheers (비격식)

apologize (격식) vs sorry (비격식)

* 단어 중에 어떤 단어가 더 격식이 있는 단어인지 구분하는 팁

longer often / Latin based

* Formal한 글에는 축약형을 될 수 있으면 쓰지 말 것

I am vs I'm / You would vs You'd / We will vs We'll

* Formal한 글에 very, really, totally 쓰지 말 것
